School Day: 7:45am – 4:00pm Reports to: Director of Technology

School Description
Founded in Chicago in 1876, Sacred Heart Schools at Sheridan Road (Hardey Preparatory for Boys and Academy of
the Sacred Heart for Girls) are independent, Catholic, single-sex elementary schools committed to academic
excellence within the context of a Christian, faith-based community. The educational mission is deeply rooted in the
200-year tradition of the Society of the Sacred Heart and shared with the Network of Sacred Heart Schools located in
30 countries; including 25 schools in the United States and Canada. The essence of this tradition is the total
development of each child: spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and physical. Our girls and boys are taught in
single-sex classrooms, but follow a similar curriculum and share in many activities. With a total enrollment of
approximately 700 students, the Schools are organized into three academic divisions each led by a division head.
Position Description
Sacred Heart Schools is seeking a Desktop Support Technician to join its team of service-driven professionals
committed to fully supporting the Schools’ mission and goals. The position’s initial areas of focus will be working
closely with the Technology Systems Administrator to support all users. The position’s responsibilities will evolve as
warranted by the candidate’s performance and the needs of the Schools. The Technician will report directly to the
Director of Technology, while supporting technical stability, integrity, and consistency of the philosophy and Goals
and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Manages the Schools 1:1 program, including setup, distribution, collection, and maintenance of devices
  • Assists Technology System Administrator to maintain and provide backup support for a secure network and infrastructure
  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical end-user computer and peripheral device issues
  • Coordinates technology purchases
General Duties:
  • Manage the Schools 1:1 program
  • Provide setup and maintenance of all faculty and student devices through Mobile Device Management tools
  • Organize distribution and collection of devices to faculty and students with assistance from the Technology Integration Coach
  • Coordinate the duties of the Technology Integration Coach to provide a responsive technology support and hardware repair system
  • Maintain inventory control of all the hardware and licensed and supported software and apps
  • Create and enforce policies pertaining to the 1:1 devices and their use
  • Assist the Technology System Administrator
  • Maintain a secure Windows server/network environment including file/print/exchange servers, firewall, virus protection, backups, user login accounts, and infrastructure
  • Perform system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, key processes, and infrastructure
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware, software, and infrastructure including routers, switches, hubs, servers, cabling, wireless, printers, terminal connectivity, and e-mail systems
  • Maintain sitemap, documenting network, and domain configurations
  • Ensure all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media
  • Implement technical technology-related directives, approved plans and hardware and software replacement, redistribution, and upgrade programs
  • Perform onboarding and off-boarding procedures for all employees
  • Provide technical support
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot end-user technology hardware, software and network connectivity for classrooms, the Library, administrators’ offices, staff agencies. and other school facilities in accordance with directives and approved plans and priorities
  • Protect the integrity of the student learning experience to the extent it is supported by technology hardware and software
  • Respond to end-user requests for technical assistance and repairs
  • Provide one-on-one instruction and answer “how-to” questions on the use of operating system and supported general-use productivity applications
  • Maintain inventory control of all the hardware and licensed and supported software and apps
  • Set up and maintain audio/visual equipment used for school events
  • Coordinate Technology purchases
  • Work with vendors to obtain best possible price for technology purchases, including maintenance, support, and device insurance contracts
  • Organize the purchase/lease of equipment
  • Maintain an awareness of new technology products, trends, and advances
  • Responsible for own professional growth and continuing education
  • Review, evaluate. and recommend technology purchases that are in line with technology budget
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Technology
Qualifications:
  • A commitment to Sacred Heart’s mission and value
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and create vision, while executing effectively
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the development, installation, and maintenance of information systems, preferably in an education, non-profit, or public-sector environment
  • A proven track record of providing functional and progressive value to organizations through operational analysis, planning, service excellence, and project integration management
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative work orientation, and proven performance results
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively elicit information and convey technology content to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Apple Deployment Programs (ADP), Volume Purchasing Program (VPP) and Device Enrollment Program (DEP)
  • Google G Suite for Education
  • Meraki wireless management tools
  • RADIUS, DHCP, and DNS management
  • Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Network technologies such as firewalls, switches and wireless
  • Windows Deployment Services
  • Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems
  • Apple Mac OS and iOS
  • Repairing laptop, desktop, and printer hardware
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud SIS systems a plus

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently
required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must
frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance
vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an environment where the noise level is usually
moderate and with constant distractions due to constant foot traffic, phones ringing, and people talking.
